Saturday Live (BBC1)

Saturday Live was a short-lived BBC One light-entertainment programme which ran for six episodes from 26 June until 31 July 1982. Going out after 11.00 pm, the show was hosted by Gloria Hunniford "aided and abetted by" Simon Bates. Radio Times described it as a "live late-night programme with the accent very much on music, entertaining guests and a reflection of topical humour".

The programme was perhaps intended as a UK answer to the popular American show Saturday Night Live although evidently the British audiences evidently did not take to the format. It can however be seen as a predecessor to many other such shows which would be produced from the 1990s onwards.
